Saints and Cheese or... How to frighten babies.

St. Dymphna is the patron saint of the mentally ill. (bar on 8th street between 1st and A)

St Drogo is the patron saint of unattractive people. "During a pilgrimage he was stricken with disease that caused gross deformities. The townsfolk were nice enough to offer him a small cell attached to the church where he wouldn't frighten babies anymore." ha!

here's the address for this site. Pretty darn funny, if you ask me.

just learned that weekday brunch is an uncommon phenomena.. interesting. I just kind of assumed that brunch was a "meal" like every other and dining establishments served food. but i guess it makes sense since most normal people work weekdays. Howevvveeeerrr, restaurants that are open during the daytime (before 6), have breakfasty/brunchy foods on the menu. They just don't have special cocktail-meal deals. It all makes sense now.

I feel like this is a lot for 3 containers of cheese

Catholic girl at a Passover Seder or... Wine is an alcoholic beverage.

Happy Passover!
I went to my second Passover seder in 2 days tonight. I learned that you should drink lots of water during passover because as much as this is an important holiday, the wine is an important part too...

I love it. I love the story, the history and the ceremony behind the holiday, but the glasses of wine are intense. Yeah, you can substitute grape juice but where's the fun in that?

It's going to be a beautiful weekend, folks! Happy Easter! more wine...

Cows and their milk or... Why sour cream is amazing

I made dip the other day. I licked the spoon of sour cream (because it's just so damn good) and thought to myself "Why do I love this stuff so much?". Then I looked at the calorie content, feeling thoroughly betrayed that it contains so much fat. Then, I thought "Where does it come from? How is it made?" Confused, concerned and intrigued, I turned to my best friend, the internet, to help me.

So, I found out that sour cream is made from milk. no shit. Bacteria is added to basically ferment the milk with the creation of lactic acid. It gives it the little kick. Sour cream has been used for centuries. In pre-refridgerator times, the soured part of the milk floated to the top. Save money, use all parts of the cow. Don't worry, pasteurization is still the law. No bad bacterias are allowed in your home.
this is really the type of shit that i think about and research on the interwebs..
