Eye Boogers
Eye boogers are formed from rheum, which is a natural discharge of your eye. Boogies are rheum mixed with dust and dead skin cells.

Snot and boogers.
Your nose makes about a quart of mucus everyday. Boogers are clumps of dirt and other airborn bits (i.e. germs, pollen, etc...) that get caught in the mucus in your nose. Try not to pick them, even though it feels so good.

Ear wax
Also called cerumen, ear wax lubricates, cleans and protects the inner ear. Why is it that all the funky stuff secreted by our bodies there for protection?

Belly button lint. Gross.
I just learned that belly button lint consists of clothing fibers, hair and dead skin cells. But.. more "importantly", it seems that the lint come from fibers, etc. below the belly button and are transported, via belly hair, up and in. Gross.

Toenail fungus.. dry heave.
Apparently, Vicks salve treats toenail fungus. Just in case you were wondering.

So, I went on my torrent sites to download them all. no such luck. Even iTunes (yes, i was prepared to actually pay for music) didn't even have some to purchase separately. Most of the songs you can only get if you purchase the whole album. whatever that's about...

I downloaded 20 new Nina Simone songs. One of which was on the soundtrack that I didn't even know was her and I love it!
Nina Simone's real name is Eunice Kathleen Waymon and she was born in North Carolina. She passed away 7 years ago this month.

Downloaded Moloko, which i just learned that I like lots and lots. (right now at least).

Downloading Rosemary Clooney. LOVE.

Rediscovered my love of Jacque Brel and other romantic french artists. ie. serge gainsbourg. Feels like a quiet late night dinner party with red wine and fancy dresses.

Learned that i love cuban mambo lots. Listening to it makes me feel like I should be sitting on a colorful porch with quiet little men smoking cigars. That's Perez Prado over on the right. Love that he is mustachioed.

just learned that weekday brunch is an uncommon phenomena.. interesting. I just kind of assumed that brunch was a "meal" like every other and dining establishments served food. but i guess it makes sense since most normal people work weekdays. Howevvveeeerrr, restaurants that are open during the daytime (before 6), have breakfasty/brunchy foods on the menu. They just don't have special cocktail-meal deals. It all makes sense now.

I went to my second Passover seder in 2 days tonight. I learned that you should drink lots of water during passover because as much as this is an important holiday, the wine is an important part too...

I love it. I love the story, the history and the ceremony behind the holiday, but the glasses of wine are intense. Yeah, you can substitute grape juice but where's the fun in that?

Cows and their milk or... Why sour cream is amazing

I made dip the other day. I licked the spoon of sour cream (because it's just so damn good) and thought to myself "Why do I love this stuff so much?". Then I looked at the calorie content, feeling thoroughly betrayed that it contains so much fat. Then, I thought "Where does it come from? How is it made?" Confused, concerned and intrigued, I turned to my best friend, the internet, to help me.

So, I found out that sour cream is made from milk. no shit. Bacteria is added to basically ferment the milk with the creation of lactic acid. It gives it the little kick. Sour cream has been used for centuries. In pre-refridgerator times, the soured part of the milk floated to the top. Save money, use all parts of the cow. Don't worry, pasteurization is still the law. No bad bacterias are allowed in your home.

"touch it" or... "on the day i got a new phone"

i went to the verizon store with no intention of getting a new phone. the girl was so nice and the phone was so pretty and the price was right, so goes history. it's the ENV touch. i never realized how fabulous this thing is until i was playing around with options while walking down the street, dodging cars and protecting my new baby.

things i learned whilst playing include: the camera has a macro setting (which i love, because little things look so good when bigger, and in focus) and the camera has a "facial makeover" setting (camera will automatically remove blemishes and enhance facial features). I have yet to test it out. it can categorize texts by time or contact name and you can put little widget buttons on the home screen for shortcuts to your favorite applications. awesome. i love. amazing.




on this same momentous day, i got the first installment of "buttonpalooza" in the mail. 940 buttons total. I thought i would be giddy with excitement for the buttons, but i was more tickled by the packaging...
from thailand. with an elephant on the stamp.




the front is even better since you can see the little anime postman with a mach 5 helmet on. i guess this means that the mail is fast...? really fast?

My first blog or... the fuzzy cons.

So, I always said I would never blog and it was kind of stupid. Who really cares what this person thinks? and so on. But, it so happens, that I caved. It's almost like blogging is like having an outlet to write a really long facebook status, with pictures. I don't know if that's better... But, I SWEAR that I will never tweet. at least i hope.

anyways, formalities out of the way........

I saw this lady today with fur on her feet. it was around the back of her converse sneakers. I couldn't tell if it was part of the hem of her pants, part of her sneakers or maybe socks that had rolled over the back of her shoes. maybe she was wearing fuzzy slippers under her sneakers? Once I saw her walk, I realized it was not attached to her pants and was part of her shoes.


So, here is what I learned. The shoes are half chucks, half horse hair shoes. Mihara Yasuhiro, a Japanese men's designer basically cut the shoes in half and sewed each separate shoe-half to the other. They were a part of his fall/winter 2008 collection. They lady's looked exactly the same, but the fur was white.
